Traditionally, golf clubs have been offering golf buggies for hire for 37 weeks per year. Over the past few years, however, many golf clubs across the UK have been extending the traditional 37-week window, and are willing to offer golf buggies year-round with a view to improve customer experience and to increase club revenues.

The Impact of an Early Spring & Late Winter

The primary reason behind this decision is the increasing demand from members for golf buggy use throughout the year. For the past few years, spring has been setting in early and winters have been arriving late. This has led to the increase in demand for golf buggies, and golfers demand their use pretty much through the year.

Advances in course drainage systems and better turf management have dramatically reduced the kind of impact bad weather has on course condition.

The Role of Improved Golf Buggy Technology

The improvement in golf buggy technology has also contributed to this growing trend.

The Club Car range of golf buggies offer some excellent design features that ensure they buggies can be used all year round without issues. Club Car’s Precedent golf buggy boasts of features like offset wheels, aluminium chassis and specialist turf tyres that help minimise the impact of the vehicle on the turf.

Club Car’s Visage and Guardian GPS systems give golf club managers complete control. Managers can remotely limit access to specific areas of the course. For instance, if there is an area that’s affected by poor drainage and susceptible to damage from golf buggy use, the golf club manager can limit their carts from entering this area thereby ensuring maximum safety of the members as well as preserving the facility.
