This year we have supplied the local Lancashire Golf Club, Houghwood with 24 brand new Club Car I2 Golf Buggy’s. Houghwood Golf Club is an organisation which we have done business with for the past few years, regularly helping out by supplying them with extra buggy’s when needed through our event hire options. However after a number of issues with reliability in the past, the club has this year decided to switch to Club Car with their new fleet of buggy’s purchased from Carryway.
In the world of golf Houghwood is a relatively young course, having opened just over 20 years ago. However in just over two decades the course has grown to be considered one of the finest in the area. When we recently visited the club we were taken back by the stunning views which look right out to the Welsh hills and Lancashire plains, and equally impressed by the quality of the course and greens. The club’s convent location has also surely contributed to its popularity, especially for society and corporate golf days, for which Houghwood is especially popular. Located between Wigan and St Helens, Houghwood can be reached by car in under an hour from both the major cities of Liverpool and Manchester.
With this year’s new fleet of Club Car golf buggy’s Houghwood has opted for nothing but the best, and each of the cars purchased comes fitted with Club Car state of the art Visage system. When speaking to Peter Turner, the clubs Managing Director he explained how he had found the Visage system a huge help. Due to the geo fencing, which allows you to easily set which areas the buggy’s can and cannot drive into (cutting the power if the buggy strays too far) they are able to hire the vehicles year round as they don’t need to worry about sensitive areas being damaged. Health and safety is also less of a worry for Peter as potentially dangerous areas for the buggies such as steep hills can be fenced off digitally. The ability to lock the buggy’s down at night has also reduced the insurance costs for the club, and on top of all this the golfers love the GPS course mapping shown on the LCD display above the drivers head.

Our guests have high expectations when they come to golf at Gleneagles, and the classic aesthetics and high quality finish on the Club Car vehicles have met their needs perfectly.
The GPS system in particular has been very popular – in addition to providing course information, it even allows golfers to email themselves their score card to review at home.
It is a pleasure to work with Carryway, the service and support they provide has been first class. We originally signed up for 14 brand new buggies for one year to sample working with the company.
We were pleased with the service and the product provided and have since signed up for the next few seasons and hopefully with many more to come after that.
